Role: Field Research, Concept Design, Prototyping (part of a 3 person team) Challenge: The school system in the Netherlands was falling behind in PISA scores and producing mostly average students. How could they redesign the school system to compete globally? Strategy: Introduced Design Thinking Curriculum to public schools in the Netherlands Results: Our solution was the winning proposal in the challenge, to introduce design thinking into the high school curriculum via teaching it to secondary school teachers. We devised a game and curriculum that guided teachers and students through the process of design thinking using local community challenges such as recycling programs and healthy eating initiatives and incorporated involvement from parents and community leaders. It was accepted and introduced in a pilot of 15 schools via training a select group of secondary teachers and later into the NL school system.
