As Student Liaison, Hector is in charge of educating students on the importance of association and value of each IDSA Chicago event. Hector helps students with portfolio questions, resumes, design process, networking, and job related questions. Hector also travels to Universities and Colleges in the Midwest District to lecture on Entrepreneurship, Portfolio Reviews and promoting IDSA Chicago.
H Design is a sole proprietor studio that offers brainstorming, concept generation, product development, research and CAD modeling in the toy and housewares category of Industrial Design.
Working to develop a new product by first identifying white space on the shelves of stores like Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel, Home Depot, Target, Toys R Us, and Wal-Mart. Once opportunities areas have been identified, with the help of a team will develop initial concepts for validation. Concepts will quickly develop into working prototypes and full market opportunity and business plans will be created. Working with great minds such as Gordon Segal, Keith Jaffe, Scott Herbst and Walter Herbst.
Worked on a tea kettle line for Copco; from product development, concept generation, also touched on the user experience and the aesthetics of their tea kettles. Directly reported to LeapFrog and was a joint project with two other contractors.
Design consultant for research based design firm who helped with the design process and aesthetic and ergonomic form development.
Worked as a design toy inventor for one of Chicago's best toy invention's firms. Worked on at least twelve (12) design toy projects from blue sky to model making to SolidWorks, etc. Lund's biggest clients Hasbro, Fisher-Price, and Mattel gave me a bigger perspective of toy design and innovation. Worked closely with the engineer's to create robotic toys and animated products.
Worked directly for Nickelodeon Product Design. Worked on the toy line Wonder Pets, designing interactive and plush toys for Nickelodeon hit tv show.
Was a key player during the Solar Decathlon Global Competition in 2007 held at the National Mall in Washington DC. I was the design leader for the Outdoor Design Team and was one of four designers that traveled to Washington DC to build the solar house and assemble furniture, fixtures, interior and solar panels. The Elementhouse was ranked 9th out of 20 in 2007. For the 2009 Gable Home, I was again the design leader for the Bathroom Design Team. The team designed an A.D.A approved wet shower and the Gable Home went on to win 2nd place in the 2009 Solar Decathlon!
Worked for the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Series under the guidance and direction of Mary Lou Resh. Helped designed cargo and mock ups using foam core. Had the opportunity to use Rhino to make some design changes for Thomas & Friends Stations and cargos. Helped make and build packaging mock ups for Super Why! Was briefly involved in the Lamaze team and designed some toy concepts for them.
Developed a basic knowledge of the design professional industry, experienced many group projects and presentations with the client and was one of three main graphic designers for University of Illinois
