Retailsolutions was a Sydney and Melbourne based design and manufacturing company with strong alignment to consumer electronic brands. As the Head Designer my role was to lead a team to design and engineer POP, kiosk and store design solutions. Much of the design work at Retailsolutions was catered to suit their in-house capabilities of metal work, plastic fabrication and joinery. Role included day in day out taking of briefs, job scheduling, and creating client presentations
The Formrite Group is an industry leading former of plastic packaging and displays for the pharmaceutical and medical industry. Initial role at Formrite was to assist as a mid-level designer to an industrial design team. Later as restructuring within the business occured, my position would become senior and I assumed a leadership role. Duties included coordinating contract designers, overseeing the department and signing off on all production drawings. During this time I managed to implement the use of Solidworks to boost productivity, the level of presentation, and create a direct link between the design and tooling departments by outputting tooling files to expedite the process of pattern making. Formrite's design department focuses on their in-house capabilities of vacuum/pressure forming, plastic fabrication, screen printing and working very closely with an in-house tooling department.
Visy Displays was a branch of the multi-national Visy Industries. Mostly a manufacturer of cardboard display stands, my role was to implement outsourced materials such as plastics and metals into design and play a main part in remodeling the company to be a more well-rounded POP display solutions company. Role was primarily a conceptual design position whereby I introduced using Adobe Creative Suite, Ashlar Vellum Cobalt and Solidworks to enhance proposals and help boost the business image as being a more creative company.
Dot Design Group is a Sydney and Melbourne based industrial design consultancy with an extensive portfolio of working on the marketing of liquor brands both on and off premise. Sanity in the 1990s was at a peak in the Australian music industry as a leader of all music sales and associated merchandising. My role was primarily a sales position with duties that overlapped into store merchandising and strategies. This was a part-time job as I was completing my education, however it was also an introduction to both the retail industry and visual merchandising.
