Pushing Myanmar Concrete Skateboard Park

In December 2015, Make Life Skate Life constructed the first free-of-charge community-built skatepark in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). The 400 m² concrete skatepark was constructed in 3 weeks by a build team of over 30 volunteer skatepark builders from 15 countries around the world who worked with local skateboarders to teach them about concrete skatepark construction.

Since the parks completion, an on-site equipment loaner system has been established to allow youth free access to skateboards, safety gear, and skate shoes, regardless of economic standing. There is a full-time skateboarding teacher on-site to lend out equipment and teach classes for beginners. The skatepark is filled everyday with a mix of youth just starting out and the existing community of experienced skateboarders.
