Biotic City (M.ArchII GeoFutures)

Biotic City is a Neo-Indigenous experimental prototype city.
The site is located on Pearl and Hermes Atoll in the North Western Hawaiian Islands The site is mined for the materials to build the city. In its first instance a scaffold is built on the site to allow for the growth and harvesting of seaweed.
From seaweed calcium and bio polymers are extracted to create a system of structure and skin for humans to inhabit. The scaffold is an orthogonal field that serves several purposes, it divides the area for research, it creates the areas for growth of seaweed and oysters but it also deforms and transforms based on the interface with the site. These deformations create space for humans to harvest from the sea, research, and live.
