Five Finger Studio is a tangible conclusion from a study on musical communication and humanistic expression which i conducted during my final year of university.
Five Finger Studio is a gestural music glove coupled with a VSTI
(Virtual Studio Technology Interface) that through hand movements and connections, emits instrumental sounds. Those sounds can then be altered by changing the parameters of the VSTI. There are 5 preset sound samples and a dozen free slots for sample creation/development. The VSTI and glove can be used in conjunction with commercially available DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations).
The aim of Five Finger Studio is to remove the barriers between musicians and machines, build upon the relationships that we experience with traditional instruments and convey those experiences into 21st century electronic musical instruments. Through the use of technology, anatomical and psychological understandings of the human body and its interaction with our conscious world.
