For me, this photo profoundly symbolizes the spirit of the 3-Day community. The event can almost be seen as a metamorphosis for those who have been deeply impacted by breast cancer; a renewal of life. The support and encouragement of others is what helps them grow into their beautiful new butterfly wings.

The woman behind this tattoo explained to me that it was the story of Ferdinand the Bull. As a breast cancer survivor, she got it to remind herself to stop and smell the roses, to take the time to really appreciate the little things in life, because life's too short.
Most 3-Day participants choose to traverse their 60 mile journey by foot. One brave woman chose to do it by wheelchair. Here, a medical staff member bandages the woman's blistered hands.
