Senior Industrial Designer
Job Description
About Us:
Quirky has begun to assemble the highest performing team in history, with a single, but ambitious vision:

And last but not least, with a brand built around the excitement, creativity, and the reality of invention.
The Position:

• Hold yourself to extremely high professional standards while engaging in a fun, collaborative environment
• Have varied experience in Consumer Products
• Have designed successful products that have been sold world wide
• Are comfortable explaining your design process to Quirky’s in house team, and to the hundreds of thousands of community members around the world
• Are disillusioned with the status quo of design process, and want to be at the cutting edge of taking products to market
General Responsibilities:
• Design and create incredible, world-changing products
• Inspire Quirky design staff and the community with your ideas and process
• Lead and mentor junior staff through concept explorations, illustrating each facet of a design problem
• Help to maintain a consistent brand language and style between dozens of unrelated products
• Support Design Director in surfacing new ways of engaging the Community at each stage of the design process
• Travel when needed to lead the design and development process with engineers, suppliers and sourcing staff overseas and domestically
Specific Skills and Experience:
• BA (HONS) Industrial Design or equivalent
• 5+ years experience in product development
• Possess outstanding form ideation and development
• Have a sophisticated aesthetic and a knack for creating surprising moments
• Strong problem solving and lateral thinking skills
• Ability to implement user research and community feedback into your design work
• Ability to be a creative catalyst and ‘light a room on fire’ with your energy
• Experience designing with a variety of materials and processes: plastics, metal forming/stamping, finishes, colors, electroplating, etc
• Possess a deep interest and understanding of cutting edge creation software, rapid prototyping and other modern aids to design workflow
• Ability to multi-task many projects and products at once
• Excellent communication skills (concise, accurate, and effective)
• Must be comfortable interacting with and presenting to the Quirky team and Community
• Advanced SolidWorks modeling skills
• Familiarity with KeyShot
• Advanced prototyping skills using a variety of media
• Advanced skill level with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
