Job Description

An excellent career opportunity is available in the Stanley Black & Decker Consumer Power Tools ID surfacing team. We are looking for creative and motivated Digital 3D modeler / Class A surface modeler with 0-3 years of professional experience. If selected, you’ll become a part of a global team that creates innovative products for BLACK & DECKER, PORTER CABLE & STANLEY world leading power tool brands.

Responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with industrial designers to construct production 3D surface models in CATIA V5 that capture the design intent of the industrial design team and meet engineering and manufacturing requirements.
• Creating parametric surface models that can be modified as the product design evolves.
• Creating 3D CAD models that adhere to company 3D modeling best practices
• Working in harmony with design teams to plan CAD collaboration strategy prior to starting new designs, and maintaining continued communication and teamwork throughout the design progression..
• Working within a PDM system to manage 3D CAD data.

Employee Specifications:
• 4 year degree in CAD technology or engineering – may consider candidates with 2 year degree if experience is appropriate to position’s requirements.
• The ideal candidate will have experience with CATIA V5 Generative Shape Design (GSD), Part Design and IMA workbenches. Similar experience in other CAD systems will be considered.
• Ability to interpret 2D sketches and renderings from industrial designers, and translate them into organically shaped 3D CATIA surface models.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn and explore new technologies involved in the design process, including new CAD tools, rendering and visualization software, etc.
• Ability to teach and mentor others – patient, ability to work well with many different personalities.
