Alloy is a UK employee-owned design innovation consultancy founded in 1999. What we need:
We are looking for an experienced industrial designer to join our team and help us build great engaging and successful experiences. The talented and ambitious designer should have an entrepreneurial spirit who can work within an established design team but show initiative to drive work autonomously.
You will have at least 5 years’ experience creating and delivering compelling design solutions but are now looking for the next stage in your career. Your portfolio will show an eye for detail along with a strong technical competency. It should also communicate how your approach helps to solve complex design issues. To accompany your strong creative approach to problem solving, you are able to impress with your exceptional verbal presentation skills that enables you to inspire and excite clients with your vision.
What you can expect:
The role entails working within a team and reporting into a creative director. You will be involved in client liaison, project management and partaking in the whole process of creative problem solving from user research, through ideation, design development, client presentations and design specifications. As we are 'employee owned' it's in our interest to make sure you are performing to your best so you will have the opportunity to shape your role over time based on your skills, personality and ambition.
• Highly empathetic with a proven ability to research design problems and express solutions in a clear and engaging manner
• A hands on approach that allows design solutions to be created and developed in sketch, foam or CAD
• A strong knowledge of manufacturing process that will enable you to converse with engineers about development strategies
• Experience in planning project phases from user research through to delivery
• Ability to understand user and business needs and translate them into solutions that provide great user experiences
• Confidently present design work that inspires and engages our clients
