13-0191 Web Tech Manager
The Office of Public Outreach is seeking a professional with the technical background and experience to manage the team responsible for the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) primary website. STScI is about to undergo a website redesign, and the selected individual will be expected to take a lead role in this effort. This position requires extensive experience in all aspects of website development. Skill areas include developing clear and accurate requirements, understanding primary audience(s), usability and navigation, website components and content management and workflow.
Qualified candidates will hold a BS/BA degree. Candidates must possess strong graphic arts creative vision, analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
The skill set required to handle this job is extensive and includes management skills and experience plus an understanding of the components of web presence to include:
- Online strategy
- Online community & social media
- Web content development and workflows
- Website graphic design
- Editorial skills
- User experience analysis and design
- Website analytics
- Legal issues (e.g. copyright, privacy)
- Web governance
Candidates should possess 6+ years of experience in designing, developing and supporting websites and 5+ years of managing and leading a team of web developers, graphic designers, technical writers etc.
