Job Description

AVID® Center is currently seeking an Senior Project Manager, Information Technology. This position is located in the San Diego office. Under the direction of the Director of Interaction Design, Technology Services, the candidate selected for this position will manage medium-to-large scale technology projects and possesses a thorough understanding of project management processes, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work with a variety of skill sets.

Essential Duties:

• Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of projects which includes: scope management, issue/risk management, schedule and cross-functional team engagement
• Works with sponsor and stakeholder teams to gather business requirements, scope, requirements and operational needs for new projects
• Identify key internal or external resources needed for project delivery or issue management
• Prioritize deliverables in a way that delivers the highest impact and value to project and stakeholders
• Document and communicate project status to teams on a regular basis to ensure all teams are aware of next steps and milestones
• Understand how to use the appropriate project management strategies and tools for each project
• Develop understanding for implementing technology projects within an educational environment
• Be adept at change management; design and development
• Effectively communicate complex solutions to both technical and non-technical individuals and all levels of management
• Help develop and socialize project management best practices within the organization
• Build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments to ensure strategy is aligned and delivery dates met
• Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to help increase project management maturity within the organization
• Participate in the Quality Assurance process for Technology Services team projects by identifying, tracking, assigning, and resolving issues
• Implement strategies for organizing and leading teams with resources located in multiple business and geographic areas

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong business analyst skills for requirements gathering and scope definition
• Experience managing cross-functional teams (designers, developers, subject matter experts, QA resources, etc.)
• Direct experience creating scopes of work, budgets, timelines, and project plans
• Understanding of design thinking and agile development
• Ability to develop and manage complex, cross-functional timelines
• Comfort working under pressure and with deadlines, taking ownership of issues and seeing them through to meet business outcomes
• Expert level skill with Microsoft Office Suite
• Expert level knowledge with Program management software
• Four-year college degree
• 2+ years direct experience managing Information Technology projects such as
o Website redesigns
o Web and/or mobile app development
o Software implementation or integrations
• Project management knowledge areas: PMI, Agile, Scrum, Lean
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly grasp project issues and work well under pressure
• High proficiency with project management software, MS Office, bug tracking software and other related project management tools
