Summary
The Senior Designer is a key member of the Liberty Design Studio. The Senior ID will participate in research and concept development, and will be responsible for driving the user experience as well as the refinement of every aspect of the products’ function and form - from research, planning, through traditional and rapid prototyping, and through to production. Designers work collaboratively, amongst themselves, with engineering and have exposure to the marketing team in North Carolina and to customers.

Designers also travel to design-related shows and events domestically and abroad, and go out into the city for inspiration and retail literacy. Occasionally, we work across companies with other MASCO companies (such as Delta and Kraftmaid).

Responsibilities Include:
Develops (alone or with a team of designers) a series of compelling design solutions around the opportunities or gaps that have the potential to add significant value to LHMC’s pipeline.

Is responsible for ensuring that key design values remain intact as the product moves through the development process and is launched in the market. Expertise in design details, style, trends, materials and finishes, and an experienced design vocabulary is expected in the role.

Customer interactions – presentation preparation / creation of high quality presentation materials across a multitude of media. Comfortable presenting to customers and to LH teams.

Lead design efforts of major product initiatives from concept through to production. Work closely with Engineering to develop product solutions, validate prototypes, and define criteria/specifications.

Research and articulate the creation and implementation of Style and Trend reports.

Work with our Prototype teams to champion innovative technical solutions

Forge strong relationships with marketing, sales, engineering, packaging, research and E-commerce in efforts to promote close collaborations

The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from an accredited institution is required.

8 to 10 years of relevant design experience in consumer products; preferably in the home decorative durables category.

Demonstrated capability in CAD delivery, preference for ProE/ CREO.

Strong competence in developing innovative design options around the opportunities and gaps.

Good technical and marketing acumen needed to know if and when tradeoffs should be made.

Demonstrated capability in use of different types of prototyping solutions.

Experience in planning, managing and executing design projects with a certain level of complexity.

Good at building relationships with key stakeholders across disciplines and throughout the organization.
