Digital Modeler/Alias Modeler
The Digital Modeler conceptualizes from sketches interacting directly with Industrial Designers to translate vision into reality. Keeping and further defining character lines and major surface brand themes established by the ID team is essential. A thorough understanding of generating highly organic surfaces in terms of knowing what is behind the surface and the requirements that drive design is a must.
Most important is the methodology in which the Digital Modeler constructs their data. A controlled curve base construction that leads to refined surface quality and ideally light data is important. Developing a spa tub that can be machined and formed, achieving good line/surface quality (near class-A), leading to design reviews with upper management is what is needed for this position.
•Near class A surfacing, as our molds will be milled out of soft tooling material and slightly hand finished
•Highly organic surface modeling such as in automotive or transportation design
•Work with Designers and interpret sketches- note our designers also can work in 3D in order to explain ideas
•Expertise modeling in Alias or Rhino
•Reverse engineer patch data into larger single surfaces is a plus, but can be trained
•Create Surface to support the development of theme models, from Concept stages through Final release of Class A
•Support management by keeping them informed of progress, issues and resolutions through usage of Metrics and Tracking methods
•Deep capability to model in Alias Surface and or AutoStudio software
•Knowledge of plastics engineering and materials for molded parts
•Must be willing and able to adapt to change
•Strong time management skills with good planning and judgment to accomplishing goals within challenging deadlines
