Job Description:
As Cotopaxi's Sr. Product Designer, you are responsible for building collections ranging from travel bags and packs, to headwear and water bottles. This role requires a strong sense of our target market, who we refer to as the “Urban Athlete”, and appreciation for markets outside of the outdoor industry. The Senior Product Designer will report to the VP of Product Design, working closely with her to maintain Cotopaxi’s status as a leading design influencer within our targeted markets. This is not a sample or pattern maker position. This is a position inspired by functional aesthetics. However, strong working knowledge of production and sewing techniques to facilitate sample development and production is required.

Responsibilities:
+ Execute assigned projects within 7-10 month timelines
+ Provide sketches, mock-ups when needed, design boards, and presentations to effectively
communicate design ideas to internal audiences
+ Stay up to date with industry trends, work with Cotopaxi ambassadors to help ensure we’re
meeting our customers evolving needs
+ Assist with current product design changes where necessary in order to address in-line
production issues
+ Provide detailed product initiations to Product Development, including spec drawings, fit direction,
and fabric information
+ Demonstrate an understanding of end-use, product line creation, and the specific markets in
which Cotopaxi does business
+ Contribute to cost analysis on new product designs
+ Liaise with Cotopaxi impact team to develop social impact initiatives throughout our supply chain
+ Assist Development Manager and Merchandising Team in developing a schedule for the flow of
the line plan through all development stages, including commercialization
+ Ensure compliance with Cotopaxi Code of Conduct
+ Attend tradeshows and company events as required

Qualifications:
+ Degree in Product or Industrial Design
+ Minimum 5 years experience designing packs and softgoods
+ Sense of urgency in accomplishing tasks
+ Excellent planning, organizational, problem solving and decision making skills
+ Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
+ Strong understanding of fabrics, fit and construction
+ Strong understanding of the “Urban Athlete” and appreciation for markets outside of the outdoor
industry
+ Strong costing and negotiation skills
+ Overseas travel to manufacturing facilities experience
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Demonstrates proactive problem solving skills
+ Excels in fast paced and nimble working environments
+ Must be willing to adopt new ways of thinking
+ Must be a team player, results driven and respectful
