Job Description

Electrolux is currently looking for a talented and highly creative Senior CMF Designer who will be part of the North American Major Appliances design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of outstanding color, material and finish design alongside trend analysis and foresight work in relation to our North American market. The position will be located in Charlotte, NC.

Design is a global function with around 200 design professionals in seven locations worldwide. We are a diverse studio with a great mix of experience and emerging talent. This Senior CMF Designer role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to generate compelling trend analysis and lead the development of a wide variety of colors, materials and finishes across our Electrolux and Frigidaire brands. You will be a key player in our Cross-Product Design team, creating class-leading appeal and outstanding consumer experiences by translating insights from consumer research into rewarding sensory experiences and interactions throughout the product life. •Develop clear and concise CMF specifications in collaboration with Industrial Designers for the benefit of all key stakeholders across the organization
•Manage and develop regular trend analysis for the North American market that is both compelling and applicable to the Electrolux business
•Provide fresh, leading, relevant and feasible CMF design solutions that reflect market needs
•Maintain supplier relationships, networks and trend resources, continually update multi-industry CMF library
•Research of industry relevant, customer specific and alternative materials and technologies
•Provide CMF support to all manufacturing and supplier sites as needed
•Broad knowledge and understanding of materials, production processes and market research
•Manage a variety of projects, including design execution, and/or process changes of complex scope in support of functional marketing/business plans, organizational plans, and brand strategy
•Manages CMF from concept to commercialization
•Assesses resource support methods and processes to achieve program and business goals.
•Major contributor in cross-functional teams focused on design development or structural design execution, processes, quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time improvement, client satisfaction, and method changes.
•Establishes and continues to build appropriate internal and external networks of support to facilitate completion of programs: including suppliers, creative agencies, and trend and research resources.


•BA/BS or MA/MS in a relevant design field, or equivalent professional experience
•Minimum of 3 years of experience in CMF design, ideally in one or more of the following fields: Industrial Design, CMF, Trend Analysis, Color & Trim, and Graphic Design.

•Great communicator (verbal, written, and visual)
•Resourceful, self-driven, organized and able to motivate others
•Proven trends and materials development experience, primarily in the manufacturing industry
•Extensive experience working with a wide variety of international suppliers
•Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems and process improvement methodologies
•Ability to clearly communicate design intent, inspire creative solutions, and negotiate key metrics
•Practical understanding of trade-off analysis and TCO assessment as required by the organization.
•Business acumen and understanding of profit and loss in relation to the lead business and material supplier relationship
•Proficiency in relevant software such as Adobe CS, 3D CAD, Visualization and Project Documentation
•Superior Discrimination on Munsell 100 Hue Test
•Passion to challenge the conventional and strive for aesthetic excellence
•Experience working with global brands and clients across different categories
•Experience working with a design strategy firm or consultancy

•Mandarin Chinese desired, other languages a benefit.
