Electrolux is currently looking for a talented and highly creative Interaction Designer who will be part of the North American Major Appliances design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with colleagues in the development of UI, UX and Usability initiatives for the North America division of Electrolux. The position will be located in Charlotte, NC.
Design is a global function with around 200 design professionals in seven locations worldwide. We are a diverse studio with a great mix of experience and emerging talent. This Interaction Designer role is an excellent opportunity for any individual with particular interest in taking design beyond beautiful objects to meaningful experiences. You will be a key player in our Digital Design Experience team, developing outstanding consumer experiences, translating usage patterns into intuitive, rewarding interactions and workflows throughout the product life. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
•Analyze required information to form a relevant understanding of the general context (business, market, related trends, users, etc.) and specifically 'context of use'.
•Define and articulate relevant insights.
•Define the requirements for interaction & user interface.
•Create surprising and relevant scenarios/ themes/ concepts that explore potential or articulate a proposition, based on contextual understanding.
•Create effective and appropriate sensorial languages that link user experience to our Visual Brand Language with respect to the relevant brand sector, audience, market, and culture.
•Articulate behaviors and affordances through all senses (using lights, sounds, movement, visual interface) and define appropriate UI controls, etc.
•Link organization of UI controls and UI screen layout to Interaction principles in cooperation with other competencies.
•Create use cases, information flows and hierarchies that go through all touch points.
•Define relationships between interactive touch points.
•Create information architectures and application flows (flowcharts).
•Create functional designs for application screens (wireframes).
•Define navigation structure and detailed navigation.
•Define interaction techniques, interface and interaction principles.
•Apply usability principles based on user research.
•Define range/product group user interface principles (what does/doesn't go across).
•Ensure links to VBL / brand experience.
•Understand technology, constraints and trends.
•Define requirements for technology.
•Adapt and push the boundaries of technology.
•Understand development tools and methods, opportunities, constraints, trends.
•Create user interface requirement specification documents.
•Define text / tone of voice for Interaction.
•Support R&D and Marketing in the implementation of final solutions that maintain design intent.
•Employ simulation & UI prototyping and liaise with usability testing to support implementation.
•BA/BS or MA/MS in a relevant design field, or equivalent professional experience
•Minimum 3 years of experience as an Interaction Designer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Great communicator (verbal, written, and visual)
•Resourceful, self-driven and well organized
•Proficient at mapping the user interaction with our products and services from end-to-end, identifying critical moments that transform their experience and drive value
•Strong knowledge of user centered design methodologies
•Expertise in the development of connected products and user interfaces as part of an end to end consumer experience
•Experience developing prototypes to evaluate interaction scenarios
•Able to collaborate with key stakeholders such as product planning, innovation, engineering, user research, marketing and all facets of design to ensure smooth product development process
•Ability to effectively manage multiple projects
•Proficiency in relevant software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Flash, Qt, etc.
•Experience designing interfaces for products in the home environment and/or in retail services relating to food or home products
•Experience working with a design strategy firm or consultancy
