Graphic Design Assistant Professor - 10 Month, Department of Art and Design SUNY Binghamton

The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applications for Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Graphic Design. The candidate must demonstrate potential for excellence in scholarship and teaching at all levels of the curriculum.
We seek applicants with an MFA in Graphic Design, knowledge of graphic design theory and methodology, typography, print and user interaction design (UX/UI), excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and experience in curriculum development. A fluency in Mac OS, Adobe CC, and other industry-standard print and interaction design software is required. The position includes teaching at all levels of graphic design classes from beginning-to-advanced typography, print and interaction design, active creative research, as well as service to the university.
The successful candidate will:
Teach a range of graphic design courses at the undergraduate level at 2/3 load: the equivalent of 12/18 studio hours per week as determined by the Chair each fall and spring semester
Develop and maintain digital equipment/resources
Participate in curriculum development
Contribute to developing a strong culture of design research and practice in the department
Maintain substantial creative accomplishments in the applicant’s professional discipline Advise students
Participate in committee work and other service to the department and the college
Perform all other related activities as required
A strong record of professional accomplishment, as demonstrated through portfolio, and an active exhibition/publication record are required.
Experience in any of the following areas is highly desirable:
Interaction design (UX/UI) for web and mobile devices
Computer 3D modeling and 3D printing
QUALIFICATIONS: An MFA in graphic design or equivalent terminal degree is required, and three years’ college level teaching experience preferred.
