Adjunct Faculty - Industrial Design Technology Fall 2018
NHTI has the following adjunct instructor positions for the Fall semester 2018. Please note, we require that all applicants provide official college transcripts.
Industrial Design Technology I- 4 credits ( INDS 150):
Tentative Course Description: Students will build a foundation in the core skills required to be an industrial designer including sketching and brainstorming ideas using hand-sketching and quick study models, researching projects, documenting work and putting together product presentations; students will learn simple model building techniques using hand-tools and building up to 3D models in CAD and using 3D printer technology; students will participate in weekly, in-class sketch sessions and robust sketch homework assignments to build confidence and mastery of developing product concepts using a variety of drawing materials; students will learn to complete work and assignments by work deadlines, to meet instructor expectations and to present work to classmates in weekly design critiques; students will have opportunities to work as members of a team and to work on solo assignments; students will safely and respectively work in and navigate a product development lab; exhibit an uncompromising and high professional standard for design and prototyping skills, techniques, tools, materials, and craftsmanship; develop product design concepts through sketching, technical drawings, mock-ups and prototyping.
Schedule: The class meets 5 hours 40 minutes per week per week which includes lecture time and lab. Day(s) and time(s) to be determined by instructor. Class can meet once or twice per week in NHTI’s new Digital Design and Fabrication Lab.
Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Industrial Design, User Experience, Human Factors or a closely related subject area; Master's Degree Preferred.
Experience: Three years of relevant teaching experience or three years of related industry experience.
