As the network’s largest partner, AFS-USA works to increase the global competency of U.S. citizens by providing a variety of international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities. We are proud of our Staff of approximately 200 dedicated individuals, working from our national office in New York City as well as home offices across the county, who collaborate with our more than 4,000 AFS-USA Volunteers to deliver high quality programs and global education resources. These include: immersion based study abroad experiences in over 40 countries worldwide; opportunities to host foreign AFS exchange students; and global learning workshops and curricula for educator, schools and businesses.


OVERVIEW
The Copywriter is responsible for working with the Senior Communications Specialist and the rest of the Marketing team to produce creative, innovative, and well-executed content for the primary purpose of engaging study abroad applicants, host families, educators, and volunteers. As a content-creator for both print and digital formats, he or she must be able to communicate big ideas in a concise manner, remaining true to the AFS brand while bringing a fresh and engaging tone to our organizational communications. Responsibilities will include delivery against an aggressive editorial calendar that spans print media, email, and several social media channels.

The ideal candidate will be able to seamlessly transition between communication styles, adjusting their tone appropriately for the demographic while ensuring consistency in messaging across communications channels. Exceptional skill in both creative and technical writing is necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Working with the Senior Communications Specialist, create a quarterly editorial calendar for use across media channels.
•Serve as the primary content-creator for AFS-USA blogs, social media, website, and print materials.
•Manage the regular email messaging to potential study abroad applicants and host families, providing relevant and original content to encourage further engagement with AFS.
•Develop and execute new ways to collect content from current AFS students, host families and volunteers for use in messaging across channels.
•Using content provided by AFS international partners and former participants, write and maintain program descriptions on the AFS website, relevant print materials, and all other forums where AFS is represented.
•Monitor web and Facebook analytics and provide regular reports on ways to improve traffic and performance.
•Produce ad content for use across channels, both on a national and hyper-local level.
