The Sr.Industrial Designer ideates and visualizes/prototypes new product ideas, taking into account all aspects of the user experience and brand strategy (function, user experience and brand identity). Leads design strategy for the business. Strong project management: able to drive complex projects, lead teams and outside agencies and collaboratively build a customer-centric culture. Defines success criteria for go-to-market product design intent, and provides design guidance across all stages of innovation and launch— from discovery to design for manufacturing. As the role develops, there is opportunity to manage junior level designers.

•$600MM+ actionable solutions added to Innovation pipeline.
•Establish design for manufacturing design intent and success criteria, and effectively transition projects into Development. Establish priorities for go-to-market design. Support design work on go-to-market initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
•Research and conceive new product and commercial ideas.
•Synthesize, test, and refine lead ideas.
•Translate design intent, and support initiative development.
•Facilitate participatory design exercises.
•Prototype – both physically and digitally.
•Deeply motivated to understand and deliver consumer/user needs. Naturally empathetic— sensitive to human interaction, human interface, and user experience as key drivers of design. Passionate about translating insights into experiences and ways to test these experiences.
•Learns by both research and building things. Able to determine most critical issues and develop/execute tests to drive early assessment decisions on new ideas.
•Expert at Design process (problem definition, research, inspiration, visualization, synthesis, human/trend inspiration).
•Passionate about doing the work “hands on” (research, sketching, CAD, prototyping, tinkering), and naturally curious to evaluate, do field work, and test ideas.
•Ability to identify and address killer issues without getting entangled in unnecessary work. Has the ability to: ◦Move quickly into physical prototyping and testing.
◦Adjust insight and perspective based on new information.
◦Discern when to stop and move on.
•Collaborate with marketing, sales, consumer research and engineering.
•Extremely comfortable and naturally curious about learning and applying new technical approaches.
•Ability to tell a compelling story of the consumer & customer unmet needs and why the designs satisfy those needs.
•Bachelor degree in Industrial Design.
•5-10 year professional experience in ID.
•Additional engineering, manufacturing, and technology training a plus.
•Demonstrated personal capabilities in tinkering and building things (e.g., hobbies, crafts, home improvement). Would like to see examples of personal work.
•Excellent concept visualization skills.
•Comfortable facilitating multi-disciplinary groups, and leading discussions.
•Proficiency required in Solidworks.
•Experience using a Wacom Cintiq is a plus.
