Retail Identity & Sign Design Development: Kitchen Factory

Design proposal for retail identificational signage.

The Kitchen Factory needed a main ID sign that would concisely express their identity and also be clearly seen from afar. But because the business was new, they had not yet developed a visual identity. The first design challenge was to develop a visual language that would capture the essence of The Kitchen Factory-- its unique personality, functions, and overall identity.

Through a process of research and investigation including site survey, owner meetings and explorations of words and imagery, a palette of visual symbols and metaphors was quickly developed.

The visual language was adapted to appropriately perform within the context and needs of SIGNAGE. The sign needed to be artfully dimensional, able to be clearly read in the street environment and integrate well with the building architecture and unique personality of the Northside neighborhood.
