Conversion Lounge

Transformable Lounge Chair

Through the movement afforded by a single type of joint in a single piece of furniture, Universal-Specific functions with equal degrees of success as both a bench to accommodate several people, and a lounge chair to accommodate one person, quite comfortably.
In Universal-Specific, I treat the joint as the 'module', allowing its behavior and limitations to shape the final product--in this case, a chair. The fixed arrangement of joints, determined in coordination with the lengths of every member, dictated the range of movement and the form of the chair in either of its two configurations, adding contour to the surface of the chair in its lounge position, but settling to a flat condition when converted to a bench.
