Out In Africa 2012
Each year Out In Africa holds the South African Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in Cape Town and Johannesburg. K&i conceptualised and designed the branding for the year’s event, extending over three festivals (March, July, October). This included: Programme covers and art direction, Sunday Times adverts, banners for affiliate web advertising, store and light box posters, graphics for website, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and a 39 second stop-frame animation for TV, SAA domestic flights and NuMetro cinema. The concept was based on the theme of the title name ‘Out In Africa’. With a literal but quirky path, we created cheeky animals and insects indigenous to South Africa, from lip-smacking giraffes, naughty, lashy ostriches through to nibbling Mopani worms. Everything illustrated, computer generated, cut out of paper and finally photographed.
