Kate Andrews is a socially focused design writer and consultant based in the UK. Educated at The Arts Institute at Bournemouth, she holds a First Class Honours in Graphic Design, a Merit Award from The International Society of Typographic Designers and has recently been accepted as a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts (RSA).

Since graduating, Kate has worked for The Sunday Times Magazine, E-Cultura and Synectics Innovation Consultancy, and exhibited in the Social Issues in Graphic Design exhibition at Ringling College of Art and Design, Florida. Kate has also written for a number of design platforms including; Inhabitat.com, Design21, thinkpublic, Design Sessions and SocialDesignSite.com. Most recently, during the 2008 London Design Festival, Kate worked for thomas.matthews as the event blogger (and photographer) at greengaged, a seven day sustainability hub held at the UK Design Council.

As an avid blogger and user of social media, Kate is passionate for the power that Communication Design has to impact social change. Kate enjoys and continues to mentor under- and post-graduate designers and in November 2008 will lecture at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Norway) and The Arts Institute at Bournemouth (UK).

Current:

Currently Kate is co-leading the development of thinkpublic’s hugely inspiring initiative The Real Work Experience and co-launching the London Chapter of Emily Pilloton’s Project H Design. Kate is also undertaking her Masters Degree in Design Writing Criticism, at London College of Communication.
