Báaxal Chair.

The “Báaxal” chair (mayan word for “toy”) was designed by MoMé. It is inspired by the way traditional mexican toys were painted with straight lines of color. Built with “Tzalam” wood with Valchromat and engraved using a CNC router, its design pays tribute to the deep influences of folkloric art and recreates the most representative imagery of the “Wixárica” culture. For them, the hummingbird represents the messenger of the sun, symbolizes the joyful spirit and the festive mood. The sacred flower (toto) and the double concave shape symbolizing rain and water, are essential elements in their craft design.
