In it's original context, this man was in a prison, holding one bar and reaching out through the other. However, after the revision process, I found he held the most impact without the prison (which, by the way, was built by bricks of typography).
The background text is taken from C.S. Lewis's "Screwtape Letters" and the text that makes up the man himself is entirely handwritten lyrics from the band Underoath (spanning numerous albums).
