I am an award-winning designer with ten years in the field. My work has been recognized consistently in regional and national design competitions. With strong conceptual skills, I have the capability to take a job from the creative brief through the conceptual stage to presentation. My experience includes the art direction of designers, writers, illustrators and photographers. My work ranges from annual reports, brochures, packaging, and corporate identity to web design.
WORK EXPERIENCE
San Jose State University Instructor 2001-2002
Instructing students enrolled in the Graphic Design course: Introduction to Typography, on the principles type design. The goal of this course is to promote the discovery and understanding of the basic objectives, principles and methods used in typography with an emphasis on problem-solving and form giving skills.
Cisco Systems Inc. Senior Designer, 2000-2001 (Contractor)
Collaborated with Art Directors and Creative Director in the design and execution of the creative direction for the 2000 Annual Report. Duties for the annual report included the conceptual messaging and design management of the book, assisted Production Manager in the preparation of final mechanical artwork and aided in the supervision of an outside source in the development of the online version. Other projects include: establishing the look and feel for the Strategic Alliance Program, design of brochures, tradeshow graphics and style guidelines in accordance with the Cisco brand identity.
Fleishman Hillard Inc. Senior Designer, 1999-2000
Development and execution of creative direction, art direction and visual design for interactive (web, disk-based) media projects. Aided in the art direction and design of style guides and graphic standards manuals for transactional and e-commerce based web sites. Assisted in a leadership role on projects including the direct management of designers, writers, information designers, and web developers. Design, integration, and implementation of interactive systems that integrate databases, Java, JavaScript, Java Server Pages, and content management systems such as Vignette.
The 3DO Company Senior Designer, 1999 -2003 (Contractor)
Aided the design team to establish a look and feel for the E3 tradeshow graphics. Art directed and designed collateral, ads, and promotional pieces for software titles. Assisted in the preparation and production of digital art to be printed. Coordinated projects with project managers and print vendors to ensure deadlines were met.
Michael Patrick Partners Senior Designer, 1996-1998
Worked with the Art Director in the development of the conceptual message and creative directions that would best suit the client’s needs and objectives. Project management of assigned projects including concept development, design and art direction of designers on the design team. Responsible for the supervision of details on all assigned projects including: organizing internal meetings with other project team members, ensuring that deadlines were met, ensuring profitability of the project, interacting with clients, preparing thumbnails and comprehensive artwork for presentation, selecting, recommending and coordinating artists, printers, and other vendors. Other duties included preparation of mechanical artwork, proofing bluelines, color keys, and attending press checks.

The primary objective of this job was to support the efforts of the creative team. Tasks included: support of design & conceptual development, presentation preparation, vendor coordination and production assistance.
