Bird of Paradise - Undergraduate work at FSU Acrylic on canvas; 2005 One of my favorite artistic endeavors is transitioning work across different mediums. Always having a love for photography, I find it challenging to recreate certain stand-out images with painting. I originally took this photograph of the most vibrant bird of paradise in Sicily. I then experimented with under-painting to "pull" the leafed background into the canvas while "pushing" the bird out.
Obstacles - Undergraduate work at FSU Acrylic on canvas; 2006 This painting holds dear to me because it is representative of my own personal obstacle. I aimed to develop a piece completely from my imagination in a surreal style.
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica - Undergraduate work at FSU Acrylic on canvas; 2005 I composed this painting from two photographs I took on a trip to Costa Rica with friends. This was our last stop for a bite to eat before making the grueling and unpaved journey north to San Jose to fly back out. The view was beautiful over the cliff. I had to shoot the inside (under the covered area) and then the outside view in order to capture the scene acurately.
Sunset on the Gulf - Undergraduate work at FSU Acrylic on canvas; 2005 One of my first paintings where the assignment was to photo-realistically capture a picture we had taken. I was hooked after this.
Sunset Study - Painting done for fun while at FSU Acrylic on canvas; 2006 An experiment with capturing the gradients of a sunset along with its reflection on the ripples in the water.
