An operating maxim of individuality succinctly sums up my persona as a professional and otherwise. Space planning, furniture design and detail are my core strengths. Whether an interior space or a piece of furniture, my design is progressive and not influenced by any particular 'ism'. Evaluating and realising concepts in tandem with the immediate needs of the environment in the modern idiom - where each theme and form, locale and function is unique to each client's needs and wants forms the crux of my design principle and practising philosophy.

As a Furniture Designer:
From understanding the play of geometry to the technicalities of manufacturing, my skills as a furniture designer are based on innovative forms, multi-functional usage and have the aesthetics of energy efficiency.

An encouraging response from the International Forum Design (Hanover) in 2004 has spurred my forward thinking ideas as I continue to develop conceptual drawings, models and rationales. Taking this forward, I debuted with the Lalit Hira Label showcasing 'Ybut' a portable seat for the sports, recreation and travel enthusiasts and 'Butterfly' a monobloc three-dimensional chair suited to a widespread market segment - indoor as well as outdoor at the London Design Festival in September 2007.

The Lalit Hira Label will continue to produce furniture for the residential, contract, hospitality sectors with the current focus on multi-functionality

It always has and will be a pleasure for me to associate with manufacturers related to the world of interiors and work on innovative concepts

As an Interior Designer:
Qualified from England as an Interior Designer in 1980, I established Project Designers in 1984 in Mumbai, India.

Project Designers is an interior design consultancy firm specialising in space planning and furniture design servicing the corporate, commercial, institutional, public and residential set-ups, functioning wholly on a multidisciplinary design axiom. We are associated with all ancillary design practices for engineering and other services related to the building industry and offer a one-window service to clients as the job demands.

We have to our credit designed spaces as small as 10 sq.mt. to as large as 6500 sq.mt. In addition to independent projects, we also regularly team up with other local and international design practices to assist them with:

Concept development;
Detailing/ shop drawings
Contract documentation
Contract administration and the like

In addition to conventional interior design disciplines, we have had the opportunity to extend our expertise to the design of :
An Auditorium for Indian audiences in London (Team member)
A Service Centre & Warehouse Project for a leading corporate in India
An audio-video post-production house in India.
A Research & Development Laboratory for a leading corporate house in India.
A large mural in marble mosaic for the deck of India�s largest passenger ship.
Stage props for a multinational play hosted in Germany.

We have therefore had the opportunity of associating with almost all the activities related to the gamut of interiors in the building industry and are always open to collaborative design.
