Balls & 'Material Op.1 (Views on Movement for Stoneware)'

These ceramic balls are part tool, part living object, and part performer. My aim was to explore movement and the point of view of an object, while exploiting the unique properties of clay. I took these balls to Hyde Park in London and embedded a small camera inside to film what it sees as it rolls through the park. I also filmed these balls rolling within a gallery space recording the sounds and rhythms created from the ridges on the outside of the ball.

From this footage I created a short film called 'Material Op. 1 (Views on Movement for Stoneware)' .
