Owner and Model Maker
Owner of an architectural model making practice. Responsible for the full production of scale models including finishing, lighting and spray painting. Other duties range from sales and marketing, speaking and meeting with clients to determine project requirements and producing quotes for projects. All administration work and bookkeeping, filing and data entry as well as general reception work.

Replicate Designs Inc. (Calgary) Jan 2009 – Sept 2011
Lead Model Maker
Replicate Designs specialises in models, props and prototypes for a variety of industries including; Architectural, Props, Advertising, Design, Oil and Gas and Engineering. Main duties included the production of scale models and prototypes made using a variety of materials to create life-like representations of new developments, existing developments, engineering models and over-sized products for advertising purposes. Also responsible for all finishing, spray painting and colour mixing within the workshop along with the production of material, colour and lighting samples for clients. Image manipulation was often required to enhance communication with the client during the initial stages of design proposals.

Modelcraft is one of the largest, most successful architectural model making practices in the Middle East. As part of an expanding international team I helped to create and install models for some of the most prestigious developments in the UAE and beyond. Main Duties included: full fabrication of scale models, sketch models, prototypes and mood boards for clients focusing on materials, colours and finishes, spray painting of models and bases, design and setup of touchscreens, low voltage lighting and fibre optics, project installation both nationally and internationally, stock monitoring and ordering, reading plans and the supervision and training of junior staff members.

Gulf Creative LLC (Dubai) Apr 2006 - Nov 2006 Model Maker
Working within a small team of model makers on a range of architectural developments throughout Dubai and the UAE. Main duties included fabrication, creation and modification of scaled parts and bases, working to client specifications, colour matching, spraying, photography, Photoshop and Illustrator work for clients. Creation of cohesive design literature for this new sister company as well as business cards, brochures and advertising.

Working within a team of graphic designers at a licensed toy manufacturer, the focus of the employment was concept generation and trends research for the pre-school years. At that point in time all products were bought in from abroad and no in-house products were being designed. The purpose of this internship was to explore the product possibilities that may arise with the creation of an in-house Industrial Design team. Products and concepts worked on included: furniture, tricycles/bicycles, packaging and display stands. Brands represented include: Disney Princess, Winnie the Pooh, Postman Pat, and Bob the Builder.

Design Engineer/Industrial Designer (Concurrent with education)
Within a specialised unit designing and building both working and non-working prototypes throughout the range, including: food preparation, hair care, vacuum and steam cleaners. Prototypes were made using a wide range of materials including, a variety of plastics, metal, modeling foams and woods. Working prototypes needed all relevant electronics and motors installed. Tested and evaluated prototypes and new products, suggesting and implementing relevant pre-production changes. Conducting relevant market research to complement and influence design outcomes whilst remaining true to the company brand.
Working closely between design and marketing to discover the feasibility of future product, creating PowerPoint presentations and graphic presentation boards for future products. Worked on projects independently and as part of a team. Regularly interacted with different departments, was involved in relevant inter-departmental meetings.
