EPD Medical Tablet

Currently, the NHS keeps all its medical records on file for up to 4 years, taking up not only massive amounts of space, but a load of time too. With medical records slowly but surely been transferred into a digital format, the EPD tablet aims to make this transfer more worthwhile.

The tablet utilises the recent developments in electronic paper displays, with costs coming down, it has the chance to be implemented on a large scale. The tablet is kept at the end of each bed and draws visual language from current clipboards.

Perhaps the most important feature is the transparency it can offer, no longer will patients be kept in the dark about their conditions. Instead doctors can use the tablet to help show and explain conditions using its real time updates on patient stats. This also decreases the chance of human error. Patients can access basic medical information about themselves at anytime, with levels of privacy being built in, using RFID technology already embedded in staff cards.
