Lead several labs and recitations evaluating students' participation and reteaching class topics to solidify the students' understanding of the curriculum. Regularly held office hours to clarify topics students didn't fully understand and guide them in designing and coding their assignments. Held weekly grading hours to assessed student's codes and provide a score and feedback.
Helped develop the SeqAn opensource genome sequencing library with a group graduate student and post-graduate workers.
Developed I/O procedures for files storing RNA sequence information.
Independently coded I/O functionality for 5 RNA file types and coded test files for the I/O procedures.
Documented tutorials and exercises on how to use the software.
Graded student's computer programming assignments weekly - assessing code quality, problem solving capabilities, and written reflections. Educated students on basic functions, dynamic arrays and pointers, object oriented programming including polymorphism and inheritance, and provided advice and constructive criticism to help improve their skills and understanding. Processed berries and vegetables as part of a comprehensive quality evaluation program. Tested berries for pH, Brix, and total acidity levels. Worked on data collection, assembly and analysis. Mentor to at-risk youth
Mentored at-risk middle school youth, guided group activities, and aided mentees with their homework. Formed a strong relationship with the mentee and supported her interest in math and science.
