Luke Turvey

Toy Designer

My name is Luke Turvey. I am a Canadian-born graffiti artist, now a resident of Japan. I am also an established fine artist in galleries in both Canada and Japan. Lately I have begun illustrating ideas for toys, especially of the vinyl collector type.

Resume

Diverse Art Experience:

I have a background majoring in Fine Arts. Before finally graduating college, I took an interdisciplinary mix of English Lit., Engineering (through which I gained some basic CADD experience plus a more technical approach to art), and Fine Art. I have become established with galleries and art dealers in Canada and Japan, primarily through Jonathon Bancroft-Snell Interiors (in London, Canada) and N.Y. Art Gallery (in Takamatsu, Japan).

Also, I have been an active & prolific graffiti artist for more than 10 years now, with my attacks centering on London, Toronto, Tokyo, and Yokohoma.

I designed greeting cards for Kaboom! out of NYC.

Recently, my artwork, which is currently mostly canvasses & sketches, repeatedly ends up looking like strange toys. Thus, I have lately become very excited about the intersection of art & toy design! So, I have begun to submit toy designs where ever possible, i guess in the graffiti artist's spirit of "getting up" hoping that someday my ideas might "run" (see the light of production).
