Flowina {Original Sketches} - A few character vehicles I was pondering about this afternoon on my patio. Large format sketches with Ink Pen. It was windy when I photographed them so I had to hold them down with a REALLY HEAVY bronze rocket I sculpted and cast when I used to work at Fisher-Price.

"Apple Pickin Time Yay!" _Initial Sketch - I did this quickly on my patio while I was hangin' with my kids. Something about sketching in the warm sun really relaxes me and I am instantly in the mood. Short deadlines or a rush job can create some unique work with surprising results.

Snap-On Sassafrass {IMAGE 2} - I did an overlay and redrew the main images. Blocking in images to evaluate negative space. Establishing a dramatic light source for each sketch. Relating some sketches to others with each design. (pointed fingers, design elements pointing, etc..)

Jetty Son_Original Thumbnail Sketch - Here is the 10 minute post-it-note sketch. These concepts show up as visions in my head and I try to get them down as quickly as possible. From the time I have the idea to when I get it down it changes a wee bit. For these character concepts I envision the pose of the character and think about how the vehicle can compliment it.

Hyper Chiar (Initial Sketch) - This is an idea for a rocket chair that you steer with wings on your arms and legs. Way tighter than Bally's.

Mini 5 Minute Thubnails - o.k I am in a meeting at work that is not involving me for several moments. I look in my lap and voila!! I see a small 3" x 5" mini sketchbook and a permanent marker in the spiral!! Lucky me, now lucky you! Here are 3 little raw sketches that you will get a deja vu on in the near future.

SK*8 / Original Sketch - Ok... here is the initial sketch I laid out quickly of a rocket skating chixy. Just overlaying it on an old bw photo from the 40's. This gets me in the mood, and light study. My initial sketch is a front and side view. I will probably get a real pose as well from my wifey to drop in for a good study. (reminder to buy her skates and rollerskates). You learn with every project!! Push yourself to draw something new and challenge yourself every sketch.
