The functional requirement of the project was to design a device which can help elderly people get up from the sitting position and also help them walk. Also in this I was working in the team of 2 students. We discussed many solutions for example different kinds of walkers, exo-skeletons, simple crutches. After considering the constraints and the functional requirement we manage to find a solution for the walker which was practical as well as simple. The design comprises of two simple links which are pivoted over a point. At the point of pivot we managed to put a one way single dog clutch mechanism which will allow controlled descent while the user is switching the position, standing to sitting. In this project we did all 3-D modelling on CATIA V5 along with stress analysis and the simulation.
