Tri Ski - A final model of my Capstone Project. It is a down hill ski designed for paraplegics and partial quadriplegics. Model is made from carbon fiber, Aluminum, polyurethane foam, PVC pipe and Many hours.
Shower radio - This is a sustainable design for a hydro-electrically powered shower radio. It uses Baygen technology using a small generator and turbine to eliminate the need for toxic batteries. The clam shell design allows for materials to be easily separated for recycling. The user interface is easily defined by the elevation of the buttons, creating a hierarchy according to frequently used functions. The speaker is mounted inside the body and uses NXT technology for watertight sealing purposes. The on/off switch is effectivly the water flow. When the user turns on the shower, the water turns the turbine which powers the speakers, LCD screens, and surface mount LED's.
Outdoor Lawn Chair - This is a project driven by research of materials, plastic lumber in particular. Understanding the constraints and properties of the plastic lumber, the focus became the process of building this chair. Adding heat allowed the material to soften and bend over jigs to produce the form. There are aluminum rods that run through the four planks and join with the arms when they intersect. It was necessary for the supporting arms to keep the form, since the sun would heat the plastic and aid in its return to original form. The contrast of a sharp cutting form and the flowing form was inspired by 1950's Cadillac emblems.
Humidifier - This is a redesign of a cool mist humidifier. It was produced to be easily cleaned, filled and 100% efficent in transferring the mist into the air.
