Documentation and Analysis of the Indigenous Design Endeavors

The project involved the documentation and critical analysis of the indigenous design solutions that surround us and that have evolved through the generations in a somewhat unselfconscious manner. What makes traditional Indian design special and what we can extract from it?


Project 2:
Manual Transportation of Water for Domestic Use in Rural India.

The project aimed to make it easier for women to carry water manually by redesign of the water container keeping ergonomics and social issues in mind.


Project 3:
Internet Based Communication Terminal for Elderly in India.

The project aims to use the internet as a means to ease yet enrich communication between family members; specifically parent and child.

The user need not have prior knowledge of using computers. This was a new new appliance catering to a new need.


Other projects:


Desktop organizer with a clock and radio.


Jam/PET bottle, lid opener for the elderly.

Night Lamp in bamboo using an LED as the light source and incorporating the coil technique of bamboo.

Design led strategy for HAWKINS Pressure Cooker Ltd.

Designed the TECHFEST ‘05 overall winner's trophy. IIT Bombay’s Technology Festival.

Consultancy work for Godrej SARA LEE, mosquito repellants.

Participated and won prizes in drawing and painting at school level.

Represented the school in hockey and football.

In std. 9, reached the last round of the CHILD OF THE YEAR competition. An all-India talent search.

Was elected the ‘Best All-Rounder’ when passing out of school.

Was part of the planning committee for Vishwatronix'02. A technical festival held by my engineering college, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune.

Designed sweat-shirts, t-shirts, brochures etc. for the college during my engineering days.

Was in the organizing committee for AVENUES'04. IIT Bombay's Business Festival.


Helped with photography for MOOD INDIGO '05. IIT Bombay’s Cultural Festival.

Attended the DESIGN SUMMIT 2004 in Delhi held by National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad,India.

Attended the DETM (Design Education: Tradition & Modernity) 2005 at NID.

Designed the IIT Bombay Alumni T-shirt and also T-shirts and sweat-shirts for the IIT Bombay memento shop.

Doing graphic work like desktop wallpapers in Photoshop, photography, and listening to music. Among outdoor activities I now enjoy fishing. I also make all the paraphernalia like carving wooden lures etc. for fishing. I also enjoy music and am always game for a good dance.
