Newer Pencil Drawings - Drawing is fun. I only wish I had more time to do it. Here are a couple of plain old graphite pencil drawings I've done in the last few months (early 2008)

Urashima Taro Story Textile - This is hand painted using a stenciled on rice paste resist for the turtle in a process called katazome. The writing is the first chapter of the Japanese tale Urashima Taro.
Pre-historic Textiles - These are some things I made in the past, purely for fun.
Pre-historic Textiles - This is another rice paste resist piece. It is made with one stencil repeated about 15 times. I hoped to hide the repetition through color usage.
Pre-historic mask - This was carved out of a leftover piece of 2x6. It is based on an old Japanese Noh mask of a fox spirit. I carved it so that the wood grains are slightly raised emphasizing the woodland connection. I also chose to leave it unpainted.
End Table/Bookshelf - I made this for my wife who likes books and owls, hence the carvings. It was all scrap wood found in alleys. Nothing so special, but I thought I would post it.
