•Process: It is made through a technique called Sgraffito. I carve images of the shells into leather hard clay painted with a light coat of white underglaze, then continue working on the images with various other colors. They are fired twice. After the initial firing, I re-work the images with underglaze pencils, often add more color, and then eventually clear glaze. These are hand crafted items with a high degree of time invested.

Shell and turtle plates
I'm an artist with a background in drawing and painting who now 'draws' in clay. Although perhaps better known for my more whimsical, drawings style featuring strangely 'animate' objects, I also love to do more representational work. "Sea Shell Ceramics' is a body of work / small business combining my love of all things ocean and my passion for shells.
