Thin Air
These lamps are on the borderline between industry and craft. Handmade individually out of porcelain, each lamp is slightly different, depending on the levels of distortion and translucidity created in the firing process. When hung, the slight movements of air in the room occasionally create a "sound piece" as the free-floating slabs touch each other. But this fragile object is also informed by an industrial logic, forcing the material to be flat, sharp and accurate in spite of its organic natural will, creating a stackable product that takes zero space when packed.

Emergency Tea Kit
This piece comes as a welcome relief from the day-to-day preoccupations of the modern nomad; an urban parallel to the alpine St. Bernard's barrel of whiskey. Packed in a compact leather and bent wood carrying case that doubles as two small stools, the Emergency Tea Kit includes everything needed to prepare a pot of tea for two: porcelain cups and a kettle, a teapot, a canister for dry tea and sugar, a small gas burner, and a waterproof box for matches.

Spirit Frame
The Spirit Frame is named after the well-known instrument used to measure the equilibrium of a surface, the "Spirit Level." This playful frame pokes fun at the importance that we put on accuracy, and the system of order we impose on our environment.

RhythmFish
RhythmFish is a device that explores the many aspects of biosonic and infrasonic sound. Video capture from outside the tank is combined with the data from flow sensors inside the tank (measuring currents caused by the fish's swimming patterns). These inputs are combined to create audio and video output. Bae suggests that, "even if the fish can't speak and express its feelings in a human way, it has an energy and communication skill in its own way. Vibration is the medium of interaction, and I chose it for its universality in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms."

24110
24110 is a proposed monument to the shortsightedness of the U.S. energy policy. Recently, Congress voted to force Nevada to provide long-term storage for nuclear waste from around the country in Yucca Mountain, about 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas-moving this "clean" energy source into "permanent" repositories dangerously close to groundwater supplies. This memorial would be located at the White House, and is designed to accommodate 500 tons of nuclear waste within yards of other important U.S. policy makers, such as the Department of Energy. The length of time that plutonium must be sealed away from our air, land, and water defies the durability of every material and structure conceived by humanity, quickly revealing that what we call a permanent solution is actually an unforgivable gift to future generations. 24,110 is the half-life of plutonium, in years.

Finger Sky Surfing
The finger sky surfer is a take off on the familiar and irresistible activity of sticking your hand out the window while driving down the highway, undulating your wrist to ride the flow of the wind. This simple game adds a piece of paper, challenging your fingers to sky-surf (there is no attachment between your fingertips and the paper-air pressure and skill are your variables).

Tobias Wong
New York, NY -- USA
www.coroflot.com/toby003

I WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD
Much of Wong's work plays between concept and beauty, exposing the similarities between art and design rather than blurring their boundaries. Unlike purely conceptual work-which often lacks a real appreciation for beauty, aesthetics, and a desire for consumption-his work often finds expression in real objects.

Guido Ooms
Eindhoven, Netherlands
www.coroflot.com/oooms

LO-RES chair
The digital world often forces tradeoffs between two opposing preferences: speed and quality. When working with images, speed often translates to lower resolution, compressing elements to simplified shapes. During this process, it is the computer, compelled by necessity, that makes the decisions about what is taken out and what is left. If we apply this bargain to existing products, we see that certain aspects of the product come to the front, while others recede.
Guido Ooms & Davy Grosemans
Eindhoven, Netherlands

Dutch delight
This collaboration between Ooms and Grosemans resulted from their participation in the Dutch Souvenir Project, organized by the European Ceramic Work Center (EKWC). 41 Dutch and foreign designers and visual artists were invited to develop a new vision of the Dutch souvenir, suggesting alternatives for the widely known pottery and porcelain windmills, clogs, cows and tulips.

Henning Brehm
Berlin, Germany

Alexanderplatz & ChangeChangeChange
Brehm recorded the daily view from his office in the center of Berlin with a digital camera for the period of one year. The pictures show wind, storms, sunshine and snow on the Alexanderplatz, day and night. 'ChangeChangeChange' shows the variety of signs from little offices in Prague where tourists change their foreign money for Czech Crowns. The signs were part of an article about the end of the Deutsche Mark on New Year's Day, 2002.

Entertainment is Killing Us! Homemade Games
Consisting of the following:
-The Perverted Sex Games
-The Hostage Game
-The Great White Racist Game
-The Execution Game
-The New Religion Game
-The Racist Black Game
-Classic Russian Roulette

What kind of input do people get by going to the movies, watching TV or playing videogames? How many people do we see each day who get stabbed, blown up, tortured, or who suffer from other physical or mental harm inflicted on them? These are the questions posed in this project. Here, Kok pushes the onslaught of this violence-as-entertainment into the home, wondering what would happen if board game manufacturers supplied the necessary entertainment that is so enjoyed in our society.

Paul Galli

Watershed Outdoor Furniture Set
These two chairs are part of an outdoor furniture set consisting of four chairs and a table. While studying photos of furniture left in their "natural state," Galli noticed that the common act of tilting a chair against a table to protect it from the elements was actually quite charming and beautiful. These pieces highlight what happens when you blow out that last candle, gather up your things, and head in for the night. What happens at that moment and during the time you are away from your furniture?

VektorDebrisInKonfusion
This interactive piece explores the notion of order in confusion. Found all around us, confusion can be seen and generated in many ways and forms. And although confusion might seem to be of chaotic nature, it carries a certain pattern and order, a certain controlled chaos.
