The Spiral leaf spring (german name „Schneckenblattfeder“) is the world’s first continuously variable spiral leaf spring. It replaces complicated air spring systems and as such will open up new opportunities, including visual, for the construction of user-optimized products. Furthermore it is considerably less complex and as such less prone to faults, not to mention a lot lighter, than air springs. The composite fibre method of construction enables a layered structure such that the amount of material can be measured out with regard to the respective use; in each case alignment, length, and number of layers determine the mechanical characteristics. The spiral leaf spring enables new constructions and by reducing weight material also improves products life cycle assessment.
