Summary • My management skills were developed over 20 years of serving as an industrial design manager and director in automotive, product design, packaging design and interiors. • I have a BA and MA in industrial design. • Gained my international experience through working in North America, Europe, South East Asia (China, India), and Dubai, with project development responsibilities for products that had sales objectives in the billions of dollars. • Established teams with creative talent and supportive staff, working on the development of high profile projects. My responsibilities included assessing the needs, interviewing applicants, selecting the applicants, selecting the equipment, establishing the facilities, and setting the operation. • Communication is one of my strongest skills. • Worked on the world largest automotive platforms, and smallest most exclusive production, from Formula 1 projects, to the most basic of vehicles. • 12 years of 3D modeling and visualization management experience.
Amcor USA, Australia 2011 - Current Industrial design Director I am currently overseeing all the industrial design and graphic design activities for Amcor ARP. We are part of the largest global packaging company ($13b in sales). Bardwell Consulting USA, Canada, Dubai 2008 - 2011 Co-Founder In 2008 I establish my own design consulting business taking on design projects in Chain, Dubai, and the USA. The project diversity was a great opportunity to understand adjacent industries such as electronics and theme design. The consulting opportunity gave me a new perspective on global markets and consumer cultures. Lear Corporation USA and Globally 1997 - 2008 Industrial Design Manager I was recruited to this job as Lear was trying to develop design capabilities to meet the OEM demands. My task was to create design capabilities starting with a clean slate. This was a one in a lifetime opportunity where I set on helping to establish state of the art facilities, and recruit the staff to help Lear position itself as a leader in design capabilities. In less than 5 years Lear had 7 US studios 4 international studios, industrial design, graphic design, CAD visualization and animation, clay modeling, prototype facility, and advance engineering and innovation teams. • 1997 I was recruited by Lear Corporation based on my understanding of design and business development. I was active in building the technology division, starting with the infrastructure, equipment, staff hearing, development and growth. • 1999 I was assigned to head all of Lear’s design studios in North America, production and advanced. • 2000 in addition to my design management responsibility, I was assigned to manage the Motorsports, visualization, and Graphics departments. • 2001 The England, Italy, and Asian studios were added to my responsibilities. • 2002 the North American Studios were restructured to be OEM specific, Ford, Chrysler, and GM. I had responsibility for all the staffing of the studios. • 2004 I had a team of 75 industrial designers, graphic designers, CAD designers, and engineers. • 2006 Lear restructured its business model and I was assigned to manage the design of the new business development and brand creation units. • 2007 The launch of the first Lear Brand (Autograph by Lear) GM (General Motors Components Studio) Warren, MI. USA 1994 - 1997 Industrial Design Group Leader I was assigned to GM Component Design Studio. As a new designer I was eager to learn the GM branding differentiation as our studio was servings all of the GM brands. I was working with all the studios to design components that reflect each brands character developing sketches, direct the Alias designers, take it to clay, then working with the suppliers to develop the products.
