Industrial Design Manager

I was assigned to the creation and growth of a group of product design and development departments that would be responsible for all products that Lear Corporation was developing in the US and globally. During my time at the corporation I was part of the team that worked on managing the response of Lear’s growth from $6 Billion annual sales to $17 Billion annual sales, including the global expansion into Europe, and Asia.
• 1997 I was recruited by Lear Corporation based on my understanding of design and business development. I was active in building the technology division, starting with the infrastructure, equipment, staff hearing, development and growth.
• 1999 I was assigned to head all of Lear’s design studios in North America, production and advanced.
• 2000 in addition to my design management responsibility, I was assigned to manage the Motorsports, visualization, and Graphics departments.
• 2000 The England, Italy, and Asian studios were added to my responsibilities.
• 2001 in addition to my responsibilities, I became the media and stock analysts presenter and tour guide through Lear.
• 2002 the North American Studios were restructured to be OEM specific, Ford, DCX, and GM.
I had responsibility for all the staffing of the studios.
• 2004 I started to manage all total interior integration projects.
• 2006 lead restructures and I was assigned to manage the design of the new business development and brand creation units.
• 2007 The launch of the first Lear (Brand Autograph by Lear).
• 2008 helping the company restructure due the market response.

I was assigned to GM Interior Component Design Studio. As a new designer I was eager to learn the GM branding differentiation as our studio was servings all of the GM brands from the design of headliners, package shelves, door panels, plastic parts, interior lighting, under hood, bed liners, pillar garnishes.
I was working with all the studios to design components that reflect each brands character developing sketches, direct the Alias designers, take it to clay, then working with the suppliers to develop the products.
