Very Cool Mike. Those Mattel guys are hard to reach. Spoke with old School Hot Wheels Designer Larry Woods and it is tough to get your foot in the door! -Great sketches!
Thanks guys - these sketches were a lot of fun to do - but for the first time in my life I reached the limit of my own abilities..... My boss actually wanted me to be MORE EXTREME with this assignment . . . which is a very unusual occurence in my experience!!
VERY cool! Funny to hear that Matchbox sought a more "extreme" look, as they are usually the more conservative brand, design-wise (and still one of my favorites!)... Great work again!
Thanks Alp, in terms of timescales to complete - well, the emphasis was on getting ideas down on paper and out the door as quick as possible. Each plane was probably no more than half an hour to sketch and annotate, and we did literally dozens and dozens of quick fire concepts in this style. This sheet was compiled afterwards in Photoshop to cherry pick my favourites.
- I'm not sure I could still sketch this quick though - these sheets were produced during a very intense predominantly sketch-based period in my career - these days I'm probably quicker on ALIAS than anything else.
Cheers Adam - it was certainly a load of fun to work on these concepts . . one of the few creative briefs I've been set where the clients have actively pushed and pushed to go as whacky and "out there" as conceivably possible!!
matchbox my favourite since my elementry school :D has one of the ideas in your sketch been produced?? wish to have one!! great ideas and innovation :D
