Various works # 4 - Prints of patterns

My portfolio - Embrouillamini is the name of my portfolio. The book has 80 pages. The size is 15,5 x 23 cm. Here is the colophon : Embrouillamini [ confusion, muddle ] is a selection of my work between sept. 2002 and sept. 2006. Most of the projects were produced while my studies at the school La Cambre, in Brussels. The book was printed in august 2007, at 4 allee des Chardonnerets, in Boissy-Saint-Leger in France.

Brussels type / prints # 1 - This is a type which letters are made with architectural elements, from houses in Brussels. Some of them are known and it's interesting to learn about their history. Some houses were saved from destruction and others wait to be restored. The type is presented with a set of letters to play with and to form any words wanted and a set of words in order to show the two styles of the font, the Brussels normal and Brussels outline.

Brussels type / prints # 2 - In addition to the Brussels type, I wanted to create a simple dingbat, the Brussels by night, with the houses I used to design the type. It contains house facades, clouds and rain, trees and bushes.

Brussels type / prints # 3 - Booklet that presents the Brussels Type, with the outline and the normal. The Brussels Normal is always in red to remind the color of the houses. Every letter comes from houses in Brussels. The booklet deals with a presentation of the type and also with a historical record of the houses used for the type, the architects and a glossary that helps to understands technical words of architecture that describes the houses.

Numerique type / prints # 1 - The Numerique is a type made of numbers, with the help of a normograph. The original numbers are stencil. Every letter combines numbers, except for the punctuation and the accents. The type is in two styles, normal and "coloree" (in color). The Numerique coloree is a version that shows how the letter was designed. A table gives the combinations of numbers to create every letter.

Numerique type / prints # 2 - The diagram illustrates, in percent, how frequent a number was used in the construction of the Numerique type. The numbers 1, 7 and 2 are the most employed. On the contrary, the 8 was never used.
