Creative Automotive Industrial Designer
GENERAL MOTORS
Detroit, MI
Jul 2016 - Present (7 years 9 months)
Currently working in Industrial Design Studio focused on future EV products for transportation and urban mobility vehicle initiatives for 5+ years and beyond. Recently finished working on GM team dedicated to bringing two new e-bicycles to the market for 2019 and have 3 patents pending on the e-bikes (see link below). I work to develop vehicle design concepts through sketching, clay modeling, and CAD to produce functional prototypes and aesthetic models that are translated into the production vehicles of the future. I work closely with engineering, sculptors, researchers, marketing, and suppliers to create realistic, functional, and inventive products. While on GM's Advanced Lighting Design team, I learned about the exceptional level of care and detail involved in optics, packaging requirements, and design in creating what is effectively the "jewelry" of an automobile.
I am involved in all stages of Design Development, with experience in consumer research, marketing research, mapping target customers, competitive bench-marking, cataloging and finding solutions for consumer pain points, developing product based on engineering criteria, and more. Planned and conducted customer and small-business market research for GM's e-bike in San Francisco, London, Cambridge, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Munich to identify needs and pain points of urban cyclists.
Other studios I have worked in: Advanced Design, Chevy Truck Exterior Design Studio, Advanced Lighting Design Studio.
