Damnatio Memoriae Mechanical Eraser - A project I created exploring a form first, function second approach. The title, Damnatio Memoriae, literally translating to "condemnation from memory," is in reference to an ancient Roman practice of literally erasing someone from history. While being a completely functional product, even rather comfortable to hold given its sharp handle texture, I did not want to sacrifice the overall design or the "story". In the end, function and form were blended quite successfully in harmony with each other. The final product evolved into a piece of design art without having to sacrifice form for function or vice versa. The design was executed entirely within Solidworks, rendered in Keyshot, and eventually 3D printed and assembled into a working prototype.
