1932 Local Motors Spearhead

Designing for the past: a theoretical Le Mans contender, powered by twin John Deere model D tractor engines using vegetable oil and luck.

in the end if you are passionate about creating concepts, choosing not to make profit from it, is not a train smash but still a learning curve backed up with a name that has advertising capabilities

Thanks Jamie. I understand your perspective. There is a large segment of designers who feel Local Motors propagates the devaluation of our profession, especially due to their low return on talent and time invested by many. But the other segment feels that their competitions cultivate enthusiasm, motivation, and a creative outlet for those seeking one. I happen to fall into the latter. While Local Motors hasn't been financially fulfilling, personally it has been time well spent.

You had me at "2x John Deere Model D motors" :) Weren't those the engines so big, that there was a smaller gas powered engine to act as the starter motor?
