I Design Therefore I Am - Inspired by Barbara Kruger’s works, I designed this series of posters as a response to the discrimination that I sometimes face as a Middle Eastern artist. I changed Kruger’s phrase “I Shop Therefore I Am”, originally taken from René Descartes’ famous quote “I Think Therefore I Am”, into “I Design Therefore I Am”. While I was not questioning the same topics that Kruger comments on, I used the same language and format to express myself as an artist and to make my personal statement.
